Wow! This week was wonderful!
We visited a PI named Priyanka, and gave her a Book of Mormon in Hindi, and in English and asked if she would read it! She was actually really excited! She told us "if my mom knew I had a bible she would be so happy!" So we think that was a good sign! We gave her a questions of the soul and said that the Book of Mormon was able to answer all those questions! She seemed really excited! We are meeting with her again today!
We also visited out 12 year old investigator, Mika! Previously we gave her a For the Strength of Youth book, and talked about how we should follow these guide lines! We asked her if she got to read any of it, she told us that she read a lot of it, and she really liked the dating section! Haha, she said even her mom read with her and her mom agreed with waiting to date until you turn 16! We then talked a lot about the family section! And asked her if she would try to find ways to strengthen her family! She said she will! She is so awesome!
We had our last 30/30 lesson with Miki! We asked her if she read Alma 32, and she said that she did and when she read it, she compared the "seed" to her kids, and said that she needs to love them, and help them grow! We talked about the fall and how important Adam and Eve are and how we need Christ to over come sin and death! I drew it on the board as we went, and she said it made a lot of sense! She said that she still wanted to learn more even though the English part is over!
On Friday we got to meet with Alison! (She is Japanese, but gave herself a English name!) she made us a lot of food! She said something that really touched me, we asked her something like, how has Christianity changed your life, and she said that the other day she we washing her dishes while listening to Christian music and she saw something pop up on her screen saying "I died for you, do you live for me?" She said that in that moment she started to cry and felt like she really felt Christ and his love! She explained how she loved how it said DO you live for me, and no WILL you live for me! And how much more powerful the do was! She also shared H.U.G.S Helping. Us. Grow. Spiritually! And how she wants to hug people when they need it, but it isn't really in the Japanese culture to hug! Awe she is so great!
Funny OYMing moment, on Saturday, before going over to Geraldine and Lyle's house, we went housing, and we saw this lady walking down the street. So we decided to talk to her! She was really interesting! She is 82, loves to sing, and She told us a lot on how her grandkids keep asking her for money, and how they live far away, and I kind of didn't really know what she was saying after that... But she said that she wrote a book and wanted to give us one, so we walked over to her house and she went inside and grabbed the books! She said that this book was about her life from when she was 2-80! And she likes giving it to her friends! Haha, yep! She said we can come back!
Also, on Sunday night we had a lesson with one of the Eikaiwa moms who wanted to do 30/30 with us without her daughter! And we planned a lesson about how God is our loving Heavenly Father, but we ended up talking about the plan of salvation! We asked her how she felt when she went to church, and she said that a lot of things she really was like "oh naruhodo!" Meaning, "oh! I see!" So when we were explaining the Plan of Salvation with her, she said "Naruhodo" after almost everything we said! She said it really made sense! I drew it on the board as we were going which really helped her visualize it! We also taught about prayer, and she asked us if it was okay to pray even if she is not apart of our church! We said of course, God loves each of us and wants to hear from all his children! She said she will try to pray this week!
Sorry for the long email this week! But I just have to share this scripture that we shared a couple times this week!! 3Nephi 9:
19 And ye shall offer up unto me no more the shedding of blood; yea, your sacrifices and your burnt offerings shall be done away, for I will accept none of your sacrifices and your burnt offerings.
20 And ye shall offer for a sacrifice unto me a broken heart and a contrite spirit. And whoso cometh unto me with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, him will I baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost, even as the Lamanites, because of their faith in me at the time of their conversion, were baptized with fire and with the Holy Ghost, and they knew it not.
21 Behold, I have come unto the world to bring redemption unto the world, to save the world from sin.
22 Therefore, whoso repenteth and cometh unto me as a little child, him will I receive, for of such is the kingdom of God. Behold, for such I have laid down my life, and have taken it up again; therefore repent, and come unto me ye ends of the earth, and be saved.
We might not do real blood sacrifices now a days, but are we willing to sacrifice a broken heart and a contrite spirit? Are we willing to re aline our will with Gods will? Christ payed for ALL of our sins and all he asks of us is to sacrifice a broken heart and a contrite spirit, and to be like little children! Jesus Christ is really our savior and he loves all of us so much! What can we each do in our lives to aline our will with His?
