This week has been a lot out off our area!
Tuesday, we woke up to go to Meito for a signing practice, when I walked into the door, there were two streamers hanging from one wall to the other and some balloons, and everyone that got there early sang happy birthday to me, and Petersen Shimai was trying to light candles on a cake but didn't work! So I ended up just ended up blowing out the lighter! Haha! Then I got home and the Elders snuck into our apartment and decorated my desk and put up a banner by the door! It was really sweet! Later we had a lesson with with Shimizu Shimai and she gave us Ice cream because it was my birthday! Later that night we went to mutual, and the young woman's president made pudding cake and tanaka Shimai made some spaghetti for all of us to eat! So you could say it ended up being a good birthday!
A cool miracle we saw on Wednesday, was we were planning to try to visit a PI (potential investigator) named Sanae. We've been trying to visit her for the longest time, she is either to busy or is at work! She is a referral from her daughter who lived in America and got baptized last year! So we planned on just to drop by and see if she was home. And while we were in Language study we get a call from a unknown number, and she says her name is Yui berry, and she is the daughter of Sanae! She told us that she recently just moved back to Japan and really wanted to meet with us! So we said we could meet around 4! So, we get there at 4 and she told us her story on how she is going through so many hard things right now and one of those reasons made her need to move back to Japan! She really wants to come to church and was really excited to hear the gospel in her native language! When she was in America, she met the missionaries, but they spoke English, but they were able to give her a Japanese Book of Mormon and a couple Japanese pamphlets! We shared Mormon 9:19-21! And talked about God is a God of Miracles! And he will help us in anything that we need! She started to tear up and thanked us a lot for everything! She has such a awesome spirit about her! She really wants us to come and teach her mom, and to re teach her the After Baptism lessons!
On Thursday we had a way amazing Zone conference!
Friday we had a koukan (companion exchange) so I went to Gokiso with Bunker Shimai! And in the middle of the day it decided to rain, and I didn't have a kappa! Which was way fun because it was raining really hard! And I got drenched! But it was fun to OYM people and be like "良い天気ですね!" "Isn't it good weather!" I would get a lot of weird looks because I am soaked! Haha! Good times!
On Saturday, Cline Shimai and I, headed off to Meito bright and early! I carried her harp, while she carried the Ukulele and my bags! I taught her some chords and she was practicing them, and so when we were making the walk from the eki to the honbu (mission home) we would sing to people walking by! We would sing "konnichiwa o Genki desuka?" We got some great looks from people! It was great! We got there and the Shimai all piled into President and Sister Ishii's car, and made our way to Shizuoka! But we made a stop in Okazaki, to pick up one of the Shimai! And while we were waiting, sister Ishii was like are you hungry? And wanted to buy us all onigiri! She told us that is singing makes her happy, but feeding us and buying us onigiri makes her more happy! Haha! She's the cutest! Also it was way fun driving for over 3 hours win the Ishii's, because we would practice in the car, and the Ishii's loved it!
We finally got to Shizuoka, and sat through their zone conference, and then at 4 we had our concert! I got to see the Kawamura's (a member from Fuji) I was so excited! I also got to see a investigator from Shizuoka, that I've met a couple times because of Koukans! She was so excited to see me! It was fun seeing a couple people I knew! I also got to see part of Fuji San! Then we drove 4 hours back!
Sunday was full of amazing things! We get to church a little early so we can great people, and Yui came, but, with her Mom!! It was so exciting! Also Jeff, a recent convert, brought his wife to sacrament meeting! Which was way cool! After sacrament meeting we taught Sanae a lesson with her daughter! Sanae told us that she really wants to know more, and is wanting to know more of what her daughter has been telling her! Yui told us that when she was baptized that she felt that she should tell her mom about the gospel, and has been getting the feeling that she needs to help her mom! It was the Holy Ghost, helping her help teach her mom! Sanae told us she was willing to listen! So we made a appointment to meet her this week!
Also later that night Knowles Shimai, said that we were going to meet someone who was a friend of one of the members, but while we were riding it looked like we were going to the Yamada's, another member in the ward. And I was like the Yamada's live here! She then gave a way that we were going to the Yamada's! Also I saw the Elders bikes... But when we went in we notice that we didn't have a woman with us, so Yamada kyoudai told us to come back at 5, so we went housing! Where we found Youko, she told us that she really respects Christians because of so many reasons! She told us we could come back! So it was a blessing that we didn't have a tachiai for the little bit! But we came back and ate really good omuraisu! And they told me that they didn't want me to know because it was my birthday! Haha it was really sweet!
At 7:30 we met with Aya, and during the lesson she took out the pamphlets we gave her and she went to the questions on the back and wrote what she found while looking at the scriptures and said she did all the ones from the Book of Mormon because she didn't have a bible! So we gave her a bible and a Book of Mormon seminary manual! She was way excited because it's hard to read the Book of Mormon in Japanese and is a little hard to understand! We helped answer her questions! And at the end she said that she would read the scriptures! She is way awesome! Today was way awesome!
Sorry for the super long email, but I want to add in a thought I had on Sunday. Because Jeff brought his wife, and Yui brought her Mom, it made me feel really good that because the gospel has made these recent converts really happy, they want to share it with the ones they love! What great examples! As life time members, converts, new converts, are we wanting to share the joy of the gospel to the ones we love like friends, or family? The Gospel is true happiness, so why not share that Joy? You don't have to physically wear a name badge to be a missionary! We can all be missionaries and share what we know to be pure Joy and Happiness!
I love all of you so much!
